Words...
![]() Over on my writer's list (I belong to the ERWA - erotic readers and writers association - list), we've been having a discussion about words for body parts. It was unanimously agreed that anyone who used the term "hot meat injection" would burn in the deepest hell. Three of the women writers (Amanda, Keziah, and Kathleen) felt that the word "cunt" made us feel sexy and powerful. But the word "cunt" emerged as very problematic. Funnily enough, women were not nearly as loathe to use it as men. A lot of men felt it was an insulting word that denigrated women, and so they didn't use it in their erotic fiction. Further, it seemed that a lot of men wanted to impose a certain delicacy and fragility on a woman's sex organ that, considering what it can do, wasn't really based in any sort of reality. I notice that most men think my pussy is delicate and beautiful and in need of nurturing, until they're pounding into it - when suddenly, it magically converts to strong and resiliant. There seemed to be some Madonna/Whore thing working at an anatomical level. So, for the hesitant among you, a flasher: Sticks and Stones 100 words "Say it!" It was an order. The cruel sound of impatience - crop hitting leather boot - made Nathanial twitch. "I...I can't. Mistress please don't ask me..." "Say it, you little coward. Say it and mean it!" Nathanial raised his eyes up the length of Miss Elisa's voluptuous body, then fixed upon the shaved, glistening slit above him. His lips quivered. His eyes watered. "C..." he coughed. "No, it's not right. I can't. It's so pretty, so delicate..." "Say it, or else!" Her gloved hand toyed with the weight of the massive dildo. "C-cunt," he whimpered. "Good boy. Now lick it. Properly." * * * For a very informative read on the post-modern take on the word "cunt", visit Matthew Hunt's "Cunt" page |

post a commentha good post
i certainly dont speak for all men but i think that men saying Cunt is the fear it will make women mad, I know that is the case for me anyway. I also believe that your assesment of mens thoughts on your pussy are accurate and maybe thats why 99.999% of all men are mesmarised by them!

I have to agree with you, RG, that the word 'cunt' makes me feel sexy and powerful. Whenever I discovered this, I thought it was a bit odd, but I did some research into the word 'cunt'. Supposedly it originates from the Aztecs' word for queen. Why shouldn't it make us women feel powerful?
As a man, I have never had any real problem using the word cunt. That being said, I agree with jsull when he said that most men's issue with it is that they fear making women angry. I suppose that is never something I have had a real problem with. My lovers have never had any problem with the word, and it is hardly something one throws out in a board meeting.
As for the etymology, in my research I have found the better part of a dozen etymological possibilities ranging from the Latin word meaning "wedge," "cuneus," to a pre-written-word Indo-European sound pronounced "koo," which is a prefix meaning “female,” as approximated by modern science. I have also come to the definite conclusion that it was used in Europe well before contact with the Aztecs.
As for them, the closest I could come in that language to an etymological link would be the Aztec word for womb, "conexiquipilti." I could not, that said, find the word for "queen" at all. It is possible that word is much closer, and would serve to unbalance my argument. However, unless the word evolved separately in two places (which HAS happened) the English, among others, used it before they met the Aztecs. Combine that with the fact that there are equally compelling, if not more compelling, etymological parallels in Europe, and the logical assumption becomes that the word comes from Europe.
As for the emotional meaning of the word, how it should make you feel, I think that is personal for everyone. Every word has a slightly different connotation for every person. For my part, it is more or less neutral. I will admit that I find it somewhat sexy, just because it has a very forceful sound to it. It fairly begs to be barked at one's lover as part of a command or less-than-polite request. Aside from that, I don't find it to be a word of particularly positive or negative meaning.
