Seven Senryū for the New Year

I have only just learned how to write Senryu. I have @senryunectar to thank for this most exquisite pleasure. If you twitter, you must follow her. The challenge of the Senryu is to write in Haiku form (5 – 7 – 5 syllables) using a word proposed by one of the group. It’s lovely to watch different people become inspired by a single word, and read what comes out of that inspiration. I’ve bolded the words in each of the poems

Bring me desire
on a solemn silver tray.
I’ll sup on your flesh.

.

Your fault, my delight,
your chasm, my wide playground
my feral soul feeds.

.

Virgin moon, please burn
every vestige of regret
away with cold fire.

.

The back of your neck:
a crescent moon for my lips,
cradle for my lust.

.

White heat off dark skin.
The sun sees all your labours.
The moon sees your sins.

.

The flavor of night
settles secret on the tongue
like a dark jewel.

.

Observing the curl
of your slumbering fingers
I must come closer.

I really enjoy Japanese poetry forms. I’m not a senryu expert, but I think you’ve done a good job with these. They’re very evocative.

Thanks for sharing and pointing the way to @senryunectar. Keep up the good work.
