beneath the weight of you
than the damnable heat
of this empty furnace of a city
too quiet in your absence

the old ceiling fan
sobs its revolutions
and finds your scent
hidden in the cracks
of these sordid walls

shame stained paint
peels and flakes
gathers whispering in corners
and enumerates
all my misjudgments

once you had me here
on this wide bed
a rainstorm clawed its way
between my legs
and buried its temper in my heart

lust curdles the blood
and eats away
the edges of civility
until I must have you
or see your destruction

the cut of my teeth
the savagery of my appetite
the pitiless thirst to be under your skin
only you can forgive
