The key slid smoothly into the lock on the front door and opened with a sharp snick. This surprised Mina, although she was not exactly sure why, but it was the final step in the month long process of taking ownership of the house she had inherited from her great aunt Patty.

…this story now appears in the “Coming Together Anthology: Remittance Girl” which is a collection of my work. All proceeds from this book go to support free speech, through the ACLU.

I’ve got so many comments that it’ll be quite tough to distill them into a cohesive whole, but here’s to trying!

Throughout this story, from the first line to the last, I was instantly absorbed. Everyone from Mina (is this a nod to B. Stoker’s Dracula?) to the lawyers, even the cat, rang with full characterization and colour. For quite a while, I had forgotten that there might be an erotic tinge to the tale. That is, until the unforgettable sofa scene.

Strangely, I found this story to be a little too close to true life. At the risk of sounding like an utter nutter, I too have been haunted, alone in an old house, but with two cats, not one. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t experience anything quite so exciting as the ghost in this tale, but it was a little eerie to read about sitting on a lumpy sofa with a hot drink and a cat nearby only to be disturbed by a haunting!

It was rather poetic to discover Batty Patty’s secret – now Mina’s – and answer that last lingering question.

Keep up the incredible work, RG. I am another adoring fan.

Makes me wonder if perhaps the reason Patty never answered the door for the groceries is because her Mister Ghost liked to keep her nude. Hee! How lovely that would be – to never have to worry about being abandoned, being forsaken, being left alone! There would be something so freeing, somehow, about just being ‘stuck’ with someone, and finding whatever comes after contentment.

A lovely store! Not your ‘hottest’ or more erotic story, of course, but I enjoyed it very much! I actually liked how the naughty bits were gently sprinkled in, and it read very realistically to me. I think my favourite bit is that, while Mina has a healthy scepticism, she’s also very sensible. She cries, but she also very quickly adapts. She finds out what it wants, and states her own conditions. I liked that quite a lot!

Lovely story, dear, and a very fun read.
