The bones inside my limbs
turned black in the heat
as you set me down
into the liquid sea
of the sun.
Who’d have thought
vaporization would
take so long?
O, Icarus!
You should have
dropped me.
Rushing wind,
gravity winning the day
and then nothing.
But never had I thought
to play the vestal virgin
or be a gift to an angry god.
The sun’s belly
can never be filled.
It eats the very air
from my lungs.
Carves water into elements
and consumes the hydrogen
with feral delight.
To expel light.
After the conflagration,
I’ll be a photon.
There. That’s better.
Now that is hot.
Yay you’re back!! And I like the poem.
Would have emailed, but just wanted to be sure that you get this =
Your stories are brilliant. I think I’m in love : )
RG, this, I like, a lot, thanks!
Warm hugs,
Paul.
As the sadist says when I send him something I’ve written: I’ve only read it 5 times so far.
