King’s The Sweetest Kiss Anthology, these are the ongoing tales of a group of vampires living in present-day Mumbai. Although the story starts in modern-day Moscow, it began a long, long time ago. The stories are each standalone tales. The first story in the series is not available here to read, but you can listen to a podcast version of it online at Podbay or on iTunes.

Just curious about when/if you will finish Beautiful Losers (my fav), The Voice, The Dinner Party, and The Teacher.
Those are the stories that I have enjoyed more than anything, but I feel more of a connection with the three people in Beautiful Losers. Please let me know if there is a conclusion to any that I asked about coming soon. Thanks for doing such a wonderful job.
Hello Shan, thanks for saying that. As you can tell, I get started on series and then sort of just tail away. I’m honestly not sure why, but I need a large chunk of free time in which to get back into a story to finish it, and that doesn’t look likely on the near horizon. Life, work, etc… is conspiring to deny me the opportunity. I have thought a lot about how Beautiful Losers will end, and I have it sort of fixed in my mind. It’s dramatic and unexpected. That’s all I can tell you.
I too will be delighted when you finish Beautiful Losers. I check every week for a new “chapter”. I also like the dinner party . Keep up the awesome writing.

I loved The Dinner Party, very intriguing. The depth of your characters is what always has me coming back to your writing. I felt Carmen could have been developed a bit further, though. She felt a bit flat and mindlessly submissive to her husband’s wants; I’d love to have more detail on her motivations.

Wow! Just finished The Illustrated Teacher. I’m addicted to your storytelling, RG. Find myself invested in your characters from the get go. No matter how “out there” or wildly different their lifestyles or leanings might be from my own, I warm to them and find myself caring and thinking about them even in moments when I’m not actually reading. Your characters stay around long after—Beautiful Losers is THE case in point. I must have read that online well over 5 years ago and still wonder from time to time what Jean, Sebastian and Shira are up to! For me, the eroticism and the sex are rich, wonderful rewards, precious icing—you could be writing in any genre. Storytelling is the key and you are a storyteller.

I found the Dinner Party impossible to put down once started, which seems to be the case with your work. I particularly like the way the characters are not ‘air brushed’ and the way I find myself drawn in and surprised, a bit like Isabel I suppose. Again an exhilarating experience as one is mentally hit between the solar plexus and left with thoughts and a gentle disturbance that lingers. you are some talent. Thank you again.

I’ve now read The Illustrated Teacher multiple times through and am somewhat captivated by it. One of the strengths of your writing (in this piece as well as others on your site) is in indicating, implicitly or explicitly, when there is a sudden shift in the characters’ demeanor or tone. It is these shifts, primarily with the protagonists, that stop me in my tracks because they are typically the most revealing about what is going on in that character’s mind. You have an uncanny knack for describing so precisely what your characters are thinking, and, more importantly, precisely what they desire, even if they don’t know it themselves, or do not know why they desire it. Additionally, your stories are just downright erotic and a pleasure to devour. Thank you for sharing them.
It’s funny you should mention that. Describing a character’s thoughts is now very frowned upon. But I write like that because I enjoy reading that myself.
Is describing a character’s thoughts frowned upon ubiquitously? It seems to me it is critical in your style of erotica simply because for most of us (i.e. in many (most?) cultures) these thoughts/feelings/desires aren’t ever spoken, at least in the context of an actual sexual encounter or relationship. But, for me, “eavesdropping” on the characters’ thoughts is what makes your pieces come alive.
Oh, believe me, I agree with you. I think it was a fashion in literature that really came in as film gained acceptance as the premier mode of storytelling. It’s diegesis vs memesis. It’s a narrative tactic used a great deal pre-1950s

Or, should I say Father Scanlon? Damn! I am curious as to why he left the church, and what event(s) and emotions prompted him to do so. Also, is Sophia going to own up to her desires? Taking that kind of ownership is frightening…and this is coming from someone who still has plenty of her own work to do in that arena. As social creatures, maybe we are always tempted to go back to that default setting, the wondering what others might think of us.
